STOCKPORT MORRIS VISIT SALFORD ANGELS WI

The 2018 February meeting went ahead to the sound of clogs and bells marching up the stairs outside the main room as our speakers for the evening arrived.

With business concluded, tables packed away and chairs pushed aside, Salford Angels became the audience to The Stockport Morris.

Stockport Morris are a 35 year North West Morris side who hail from Banks Lane in Stockport.  Originally set up by a group of Dads who found themselves travelling around the country with their collective children who danced with a children’s Morris side.

The Angels were entertained with traditional dance and a few not so traditional songs.  But things didn’t end there, a few brave Angels stepped forward to have a go, finding out that not only is dancing the Morris great fun but hard work.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and during the traditional tea and cake, chatted with the Morris dancers about their clogs, their instruments and their obvious joy at being part of the Morris.
