Angels Summer Picnic

With summer finally poking its head round the clouds and making a late if welcome appearance we are full steam ahead with planning our annual picnic. You may remember last year we held our first ever picnic at Beesley Green where we showcased all the clubs and societies the WI can offer. Although the sun on that occasion hid behind the rainclouds we enjoyed sharing food and friendship and meeting lots of new ladies.

This year our friends at Garden Needs in Broughton have invited us to enjoy their lovely garden centre and try out their new fire pit. Ladies are invited to come along to the centre on Radford Street, just off Bury New Road at 6.30 for a 7pm start on Thursday 20th June. The idea is simple – everyone who can brings along a cake or dish to share and we spend some time learning more about what you can get involved in at Salford Angels WI. We’ll have stalls from all our clubs: the choir, book club, local history, photography, arts and crafts, baking, gardening and who knows maybe a cycling club?! We welcome ideas from members who would like to set up a group of their own, just speak to a member of the committee who can give you some help.

In true British Bake Off style we will be adding some friendly competition to this year’s picnic – bring along a cake or loaf to be judged by our very own Mary Berry, our WI Federation adviser Rosemary, ably assisted by President Suzanne. If you would like to enter please contact Suzanne on rigg807@btinternet.com or hello@salfordangelswi.co.uk .

We hope to see you (and the sunshine) there for a friendly introduction to Salford Angels WI and some nice toasted marshmallows!
