Hot Flush !
Billed as, ‘The Naughtiest Comedy Musical in Town’ 9 broad minded ladies from Salford Angels WI ventured to the Palace Theatre last Thursday to see the one night only showing of ‘Hot Flush’.
It was a full house, mainly ladies, with just a few gentlemen braving the event. The atmosphere from the packed auditorium was electric as the lights fell and the show began.
As the title suggests the show tells the tale of 4 menopausal friends who meet each week to discuss their chaotic lives.
We have Myra (Lesley Joseph) a successful barrister whose husband has traded her in for a younger model, Helen (Anne Smith) a lonely widow whose daughter has flown the nest, Sylvia (Lori Haley) the American friend in a boring marriage who is finding excitement in a secret affair with Myra’s 18 year old son and Jessica (Ruth Keeling) a bubbly, plump lady who’s attracted the unwanted attention of the creepy vicar.
Last but not least we have the very versatile Matt Slack who plays all the male characters in the show. He was hilarious and drew shrieks of laughter each time he appeared on stage.
The show was fast paced, the ups and downs of life and the menopause celebrated through song, dance and very saucy jokes drawing uproarious laughter from the audience.
If you were craving a mid-week cheeky cheer you up night out ‘Hot Flush’ certainly hit the spot.
