Tatton Flower Show

It’s that time of year when the flower shows roll into the North West, and one of the RHS show-stoppers is The Tatton Flower Show.

Many of our ladies were going this year over the four days, some of us early in the week to avoid the crowds and some of us on the final Sunday for all the gardening bargains to be had!

So it was that four of us attended, including the President Suzanne and our youngest Angel Elizabeth (6 months and 24 days to be precise), on the first day open to the general public, the Thursday.

The sun shone down brightly, and it was an extremely hot day, but that didn’t have us wilting as we donned sun hats and factor 50 to make our way round the massive show ground.

First you hit upon the amazing show tents with garden plants, heritage varieties, fruit and vegetable competition stands and bee-keeping to name a few. Then, we meandered onto the show gardens with their amazing water features and then into the stall areas, selling all manner of garden tools, plants and furniture, all of which we decided we couldn’t live without.

After stopping for the obligatory packed lunch, we thought it would be rude to leave without sampling the hospitality of the Pimms tent, and we weren’t disappointed, cool, fizzy and refreshing, and with Elizabeth enjoying a refreshing strawberry or two, our day was complete.

So finally, with aching limbs and sun-kissed skin we headed back to Salford, with lots of ideas for our Angels Community Garden, and looking forward to next years show and Elizabeth’s second visit.
