This week brought the Angel’s Third Birthday Party and we thought we’d rock the night away 50’s style with the Black Cat Trio playing us through the decade of Elvis, bobby socks and quiffs.

The British Legion in Pendleton was the venue for Angels, friends and family to get the hair gel, nets and red lippy out and they didn’t let us down. Well over a hundred of us enjoyed a great venue, festooned with union jacks.

Our intrepid Committee made sure everyone had plenty of opportunity to get involved with the raffle and stand up bingo as there were some brilliant prizes to be won. Christmas hamper, chocolate hamper, beautiful sewing kit from I Want Fabric, a meal for two at Isis, wine, vouchers for the Trafford Centre and M&S. Not forgetting our friends at Garden Needs and Janine MacDonald Photography for their kind donations.

After the people were harassed, sorry, asked to buy tickets we got down to the serious business of dancing, eating pasties, having a drink and of course enjoying some yummy cakes! As the night progressed some amazing (and in some cases frankly shocking) moves were on display, prompting calls for a dancing sub-group – one step at a time ladies!

I hope there weren’t too many sore heads, feet or feelings the next day and we look forward to our Christmas meeting next month on the 18th December at the Beacon Centre.
