Getting Crafty
Salford Angels Arts and Crafts
At the annual picnic last July the Angels asked members which clubs and activities they would like featuring in the programme of events for 2013. Following popular demand, the Arts and Crafts club was set up looking at a range of activities for people to have a go at and try out new things.
The club started in February and the programme for the year was set – Feltwork, Patchwork quilting and trips out are all featured in the programme for 2013. The first creation made was using feltwork – Felt owl keyrings and earing holders. From the start the women who attended the session had fun – especially as we had some cake and a brew whilst cutting and stitching. Also, not wanting to be left out the Arts and Crafts club are making the banner for the brave cyclists who are taking part in the 171 mile charity bike ride to Oxford at the end of May. It’s not all about getting covered in glue and learning the difference between a purl and a knit – In October there is a trip out to Manchester Art Gallery with a guided tour around the exhibits with our very own tour guide.
If you are interested in joining the Arts and Crafts club the next session on 28th May will be looking at sewing machine maintenance and a guest speaker will be coming to show how to use a machine efficiently and carry out basic maintenance work. The places are limited so please make sure you let us know in advance if you would like to attend this.
