Cheese and Wine with Salford Angels
The Salford Angels WI saw their first AGM meeting take place at their home, the Angel Centre on Thursday 18th November.
President Suzanne, Secretary Sarah and Treasurer Jo gave us an overview of all the great things achieved in the first year as Salford Angels including the membership growth and the guest speakers. We also heard about how the Angels have been out and about in the community hosting afternoon teas, attending local events and supporting our Olympic Torchbearing member, Emma Smith at the Olympic Torch Relay. Not forgetting our President, Suzanne Rigg who also won the title of ‘Best Dressed Lady’ at the Lancashire Federation’s Jubilation Event!
It was also time to elect a new committee. A big thank you to our first committee who worked tirelessly to launch the Salford Angels, promote the branch in the local community and recruit new members. It has been a successful year all round and hopefully one in which we can build on. A new committee was elected through a secret ballot and many members continued in their positions on the committee.
After the AGM meeting, it was time to treat ourselves with some classic cheese and wine and have the chance to chat and catch up with members, old and new. There was also events to sign up for including a tour of BBC Media City, a theatre trip to the Lowry to watch White Christmas and an afternoon tea trip to the world class establishment, Slattery’s.
With a new committee and lots of events planned, 2013 is going to be an exciting year. If you’re thinking of popping in to see what we are about, do join us for our first birthday party on Thursday 15 November. See you there!
