Festival of Trees

Over the last few weeks Salford Angels have been getting all art and crafty, and all in the name of a very worthy cause. One of our members suggested earlier this year that we take part in ‘The Festival of Trees’ at the Lowry Outlet Mall in aid of Francis House Childrens Hospice.

The idea is that businesses and organisations decorate Christmas trees, which are then auctioned off and all the monies raised goes to supporting Francis House and the children who stay there.

So we have been busy making and painting salt dough, piercing polystyrene eggs and adorning them with fabric, hanging jingly bells on anything that didn’t move quick enough and knitting and felting to our hearts content.

To say that we are up against some stiff ‘competition’ is an understatement, there will be trees by Manchester United, Manchester City, Coronation Street and Emmerdale to name but a few, in fact there will be 40 trees on display, all trying to raise as much as they can.

As well as the beautifully decorated trees there’s a wishing well, memory tree, raffle and lots of Christmassy things to buy with all the money from these also going to support the children and families who use Francis House. The trees are in the Lowry from 4th Nov until 9th Dec, so why not pop down and show your support.
