We’ve had a great first year and have catered for several Afternoon Teas for people in the local community. At one of the Tea’s someone asked if we were going to do a calendar and we thought well why not. As long as we don’t have to be photographed being naked then we’ll give it a go!

So we set about gathering our Members’ favourite recipes which they would like to share and help inspire people to get baking. We’ve all enjoyed the wonderful cakes, pastries and savoury treats our very talented Members have created over the year and it was really tough to choose the ones which would fit into the calendar. Our friends at Carbon Creative helped us design our first calendar and spent many an hour ensuring the cakes were shown off in all their glory.

We are lucky to have women with many skills at Salford Angels and our Members Janine McDonald and Kate Hadfield (with help from Angel’s friends Sandra Dalton and Nick Harrison) took on the photography with gusto – only being paid in cake of course! Thanks as well to all the ladies who baked the cakes and submitted recipes.

We hope you agree the results are fantastic and they encourage you to get your aprons on give Mary Berry a run for her money. As a registered charity all proceeds of the sale of the calendar will go straight back into the WI to enable us to continue our work empowering women in Salford to make friends, learn new skills and campaign on matters which are important women across the country.
