As 2013 gets under way and we all make plans and resolutions (and probably brake them all in the first week!) it’s good to take a few moments to look back at everything Salford Angels WI have achieved in their first year. We have grown from 9 intrepid ladies in November 2011 to over 30 members and more who are getting to know us. We’ve enjoyed an fun programme of activities and events over the year – from Afternoon Teas, a picnic, trip to the theatre, bike ride, selling fresh fruit and veg on the Town Hall lawns, a (controversial!) quiz, pig racing and raising money for charity by decorating a Christmas tree, it’s been a whirlwind! And don’t forget the wonderful baking our members regularly contribute to the cause.

None of this would be possible without the hard work and determination of the President, Committee and our enthusiastic and talented members. Thank you all!

Looking to 2013 we’ve put together another twelve months of exciting meetings and events. We asked our members what they would like to see and they came back with lots of great suggestions which reflect the diverse interests of today’s women of the WI. We have yoga, vintage make up demonstrations, inspirational talks from volunteers in India and those who work with rescue dogs and our now annual birthday picnic. On top of our monthly meetings we have activities and sub-groups throughout the year including a trip to Chill Factore, watersports, our gardening, baking, knitting, book and local history groups. Our biggest challenge though is our sponsored bike ride for Salford Young Carers. We have challenged ourselves to cycle the 180+ miles to the NFWI’s Denman College near Oxford! So a programme of exercise, planning and sponsorship is underway – all help gratefully received!
