Last year’s Taste of Salford saw the Angels bring fresh fruit and veg to visitors at the annual Council celebration of all things Salford. Our ladies did us proud and showed they can beat Ian Beale when it comes to selling apples and pears to the masses. We even had roving sales people Emma and Charlotte selling the remaining lettices to bemused festival goers.

This year we decided to concentrate on more traditional WI territory and will be selling fresh homemade scones and recipes. There will also be a selection of games so you have the chance to win a prize to take home with your scones. Taste of Salford is on the 21^st September on the lawns of the Civic Centre in Swinton so come along and say hello,  join in with the activities and stalls and help celebrate our wonderful city

Another traditional WI event is the annual County Show. This is hosted by our federation, Lancashire and takes place on the 25^th and 26^th September in Garstang. Everything you can imagine is there to be judged, bought and enjoyed. Its a great chance for new WI’s like ours to showcase the talents and hobbies of our members. This year we’ll  have entries for the photography and jam making categories.  As newbies we’ll be looking to see how strict the judging will be – the WI are known for being very particular! We’re really looking forward to meeting other WI’s in our area and getting some great ideas for next year.
