Victorian Christmas – Tatton Park

Is that mulled wine I can smell? The city centre is awash with markets, bratwurst and jolly folk with amazing jumpers. Although we all love a spicy sausage, here at Salford Angels WI we decided to go back to a more simple time at Tatton Hall to experience a Victorian Christmas.

We gathered together with friends from Stoneclough WI and an honorary baby Angel, to a lovely three course dinner complete with crackers and candles. While at the meal the ladies had a moment to celebrate and remember our choir member Lizzie Sue Mason who very sadly passed away recently. All our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.

After the meal we enjoyed a tour of the house, fully festooned in the most beautiful Christmas decoration. It really was a magical tour as this year Tatton have The Nutcracker story displayed through the house. With live music, twinkling candles, mince pies and the biggest Christmas tree our baby Angel had ever seen we felt Christmas had really begun.

Our next meeting is the 18th December at the Beacon Centre on London Road at 6.30pm. We’ll be celebrating Christmas again and selling our fabulous 2015 calendars. All ladies welcome, please contact Suzanne for more details on 07581 471530 or email hello@salfordangelswi.co.uk
