Since the 100 year commemorations of World War 1 began in 2014, Salford Angels WI have been privileged to be involved in many ways remembering all those involved in the conflict.

Armed Forces Day (formerly Veterans Day) began in 2006 and has grown every year since. For the last 2 years, it has been celebrated in Winton Park with a Military Parade and Family Fun Day. There is also a tea tent….enter the WI!

We bake cakes, dress in land army garb and serve tea and coffee to the VIP Veterans, Civic dignitaries and the public, not to mention singing along to all the old songs.

This is very much a family event for us, members children and grandchildren come along and our mascot Peggy and deputy mascot Bill both come and enjoy the day with us.

There was funfair rides, community stalls, the mounted police and some fantastic singing from local girl Amy Faulkner.
