Meeting our Neighbours
Here at the Angels we like to get out and about in our local community and support some great projects and people.
Our Local History Club has been busy working on an exciting exhibition of images from the Chapel Street area. We were interested in documenting the secret spaces, decay and beauty you find in an area which has changed beyond all recognition over the years, and will continue on that path over the coming months. We will be exhibiting our images in various locations along Chapel Street. Watch this space!
We attended an interesting event at Salford Museum and Art Gallery which focussed how we can commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One in 2014. We met some great people and we enjoyed coming up with ideas for projects across the City which will help bring the reality of the War to a new generation. With no veterans still alive to tell their stories it’s even more important don’t forget the sacrifice they and their families made for our city and nation.
On the 4th May we’re looking forward to supporting the MS Society’s event being held at St Peter and St Paul’s church in M6, where we will be having a cake stall. Come down between 1 and 4pm and grab a tasty treat and support this good cause.
We’re busy that weekend as we’re having another Vintage Tea Party on Sunday 5th May! As part of the annual Sounds from the Other City Music Festival we’re setting up shop in the Angel Centre, offering Afternoon Tea to hungry festival goers. Now in its ninth year Sounds from the Other City is Salford’s finest festival of new music. Seventy acts and thirteen stages mean you’ll never be bored – expect secret shows and live art, drink and fine foods, all for £18. So if you’re heading down Chapel Street pop in for a well earned rest and you can see some of our Chapel Street images while you munch!
