We recently held our 3rd AGM and we took the opportunity to look at some of the fantastic things we’ve done over the last 12 months, and boy, have we been busy!

We’ve visited the bees at Kersal Vale Allotments, which has spurred us on to get our own beehives next year, we learnt about sustainable living, how the charity Emmaus helps the homeless in the city, were regaled with tales of a life on the ocean waves with a local artist who teaches art on cruise liners and had a wine tasting evening at The Secret Garden in Worsley, and all that was just at our monthly meetings!

Outside of that we’ve provided an Edwardian Tea Tent at the Spirit of Salford, visited the theatre, had a family outing at Crocky Trail, seen the flowers at the RHS Tatton show, reached the regional final of the WI national choir competition, had member Brenda Cogswell celebrate her birthday with a fund raising skydive, read books, learnt photography skills, put together our 3rd calendar, made hedgehogs for St Ann’s Hospice and took Amsterdam by storm. Not bad eh?

And, the year’s not over yet. We still have our 3rd Birthday Party to look forward to – this year we are opening it up to friends, family and anyone who fancies a great night. It’s on Thursday 20th November at Langworthy British Legion and it’s a 50s night with a live band, pasty and peas, a raffle with some great prizes and the chance to buy a copy of our calendar. Tickets are £5 and are available now.
