The Perfect Farewell
The 12th October brought the end of an era to Salford Quays – the energetic and much respected Kathy McArdle left her role as the Quays Arts and Cultural Development Manager for pastures new.
Kathy has worked on the Quays for only 18 months but in that time has helped to shape and deliver many exciting and ground breaking projects, working with partners across the Quays. The Quays Open Day, Unsung Heroes, Looping the Loop, The Secret Garden Festival (which inspired local writer Mike Scantlebury’s book which is serialised in this very paper) and many other events all benefited from Kathy’s support and hard work.
The Salford Angels WI were there to make sure she had the send off she deserved at the Lowry Theatre. A traditional afternoon tea was presented by the ladies of the WI, who didn’t let us down with a fantastic selection of cakes, scones, cupcakes and home made jam. All washed down with lashings of tea and coffee, of course served with a smile from our beautiful collection of china cups and saucers.
We had many comments from people interested in our recipes and we are hard at work creating an Angels Calender for 2013! As soon as this is ready we will post how to buy it on our website, facebook and twitter so you can try for yourselves the yummy recipes our ladies use to impress, month after month.
To try some of them a bit sooner come along to our monthly meetings, every third Thursday of the month at the Angel Centre on Chapel Street. 6.30 for a 7pm start. You can come along to two meetings with no charge or obligation – so what have you got to loose!
