Things that go bump in the night….

Recently, we took a trip to Ordsall Hall, Salford’s oldest and Grade 1 listed building. Nothing new there then, a WI visiting a museum…except, we arrived after dark, decked out in warm clothes, armed with torches, and ever so slightly scared because we were about to go on a hunt…a ghost hunt!

23 women, and 2 brave men (brave enough to listen to us scream!) rocked up ready to take on the spirits, which for a change, didn’t include Jack Daniels or Captain Morgan.

When we arrived, museum supervisor Kim was waiting for us along with our ghostly guides for the night, Ghost Tours UK, a paranormal group from Tameside. Our night began with Rob, GTUK’s resident medium, relaying messages for our group from loved ones on the other side, some of which were scarily accurate and then our hunt of the building began. The lights were plunged out and in 2 smaller groups we headed off to different sides of the building. Once there, we were lucky enough (yeah, right) to hear loud bangs behind us, have our arms mysteriously raised in the air, be pushed in the back by unseen hands and generally be scared witless a few times!

The night came to an end at 2am and everyone agreed that, even though we didn’t see the Halls infamous White Lady, we had all got something to go home and think about. Do we all now believe in spirits? Well, I don’t know, but Jack Daniels was a welcome sight once home.
