Have you ever wandered around the clothes shops, looking at tops and skirts and thinking “that doesn’t look too complicated, I am sure I could make it”
Well now is your chance! On this course Elaine will show you the basics of cutting out a simple top or skirt and how to follow the instructions on a pattern to make up your garment!
You need to buy a simple pattern for either a top (not a blouse) or a skirt, buy the correct amount and type of fabric plus any extras things like thread, zip, etc. and bring them all along with a tape measure, pair of cutting out scissors, pins and a sewing machine.
The mysteries of the grain, notches, darts and seam allowances will all become clear and you should be able to take home your completed garment.
Elaine is an experienced dressmaker and has been making her own clothes for many years. She has a wealth of knowledge to pass on to the beginner in this class to help them achieve a professional finish that fits you perfectly
