Calendar Photoshoot

August is upon us and our thoughts at the WI are turning towards Christmas and the New Year, sad aren’t we? But, we need to think this far ahead to make sure our 2015 calendar is ready for sale by the end of September.

So, with the idea for the calendar set in place over 4 months ago, “Inspirational Women of The Centenary”, the women short-listed, recipes taste tested and approved, models and locations sorted, we finally get down to the nitty-gritty – the all important photo shoots.

We decided to do the 12 food and drink shoots in one day, so a gang of volunteer cooks, set dressers, photography assistants and our resident photographer, Janine, made our way to the venue for the shoot, Garden Needs, Radford St, Lower Broughton, who kindly let us take over the garden centre for a whole sunday.

The weather was quite kind to us, with just one heavy shower, and occasional sunny spells, so our Polish rice pudding cake, Zaza cocktail and steak and ale pie to name but a few of this year fantastic foodie ideas, looked their best for their moment of photographic glory! Let’s hope the same will be said for us when we recreate our pictures of the ladies that will feature and we do the inspirational women proud!
