Spring Fling
On Sunday 29th April, Salford Angels W.I. attended ‘The Spring Fling’ at Salford Museum & Art Gallery.
It was a chance for us to showcase the W.I. and get creative with our own stall. We did craft activities for children which included making pom-pom sheep for our entry into ‘The Flock’, a public art project that is touring the country www.jointheflock.co.uk, and to decorate an angel and write a wish on the back of it and hang it on our ‘Wish Tree’.
We also ran a ‘Name the Sheep’ board, with the chance to win a bottle of wine, a jar of sweets and a W.I. knitted sheep provided by Mags Savage.
Although the weather wasn’t brilliant, and certainly didn’t portray a beautiful English spring day the event was well attended with many sheep being added to our flock and lots of wishes written, the best of which was from a little girl who wished for new football boots for her young cousin – bless.
The winning sheep name was ‘Morris’ and the lucky prize winner was Lyndsay Williams from Broughton.
The best part of the afternoon was our opportunity to judge the cake decorating competition, the Winner of the Children’s category was Alice. For the adults, Audrey won Best Decorated Cupcakes and Stacy won Best Decorated Large Cake. The cakes looked amazing and congratulations to all who took part!
